Woodland Gallery Review

I first visited Woodland Gallery today. I have been wanting to discover a pottery place and Woodland Gallery sort of landed in my lap. I missed a street and accidentally discovered Woodland Gallery. If you like supporting mom and pop businesses, you will love this resourceful store.

After speaking with a very pleasant employee, I discovered that an incredibly talented family runs the store. The father specializes in photography, the mother makes the pottery and teaches classes, and the daughter designs jewelry and art and makes clothing alternations especially bridal gowns. She also creates couture dresses.

Woodland Gallery has pottery pieces, jewelry, art, quilts, and other handmade art. I especially loved the melted bottle serving trays.  You can even bring in your glass bottle and have it melted down into a serving tray.

You can take pottery classes in the studio that is located behind the store. There are classes for children 8 years old and up, teens, and adults.  The studio has 5 potter's wheels.

If you're a mom, they have a mom's night out on the weekdays.  It is $25 per person and the class size is 5 adults.  You can call 348-0060 to schedule an appointment.

You can also take a sewing class too.

It is located at 126 Powell Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075.  Their phone number is 615-348-0060.

Their hours are:

Noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday - Friday and on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Please visit their website at www.woodlandgallery.net for further information such as class schedules, costs, directions, etc.

Wired Coffee Company Review

When I walked into Wired Coffee Company, its funky vibe and mellow warmth swept me off my feet.  I felt like I walked into a Tom Petty video from the 80s.

I ordered a caramel macchiato and it was perfection. Wireless Coffee Company uses Bonjo Java beans, which is fair trade and 100% organic. Wired also uses high quality syrups such as Ghiradelli and 1883 The World's Best.

The  friendly pink-haired barista told me about the shop and even introduced me to the shop's mascot-a tiny coal black dog that occasionally dances on command.

Wired Coffee's relaxed ambiance is heightened with a stage with a piano, overstuffed couches and chairs, and monthly revolving art work. My favorite part is the Cozy Corner Nook, which is a small room with comfortable overstuffed seats and a packed bookcase.

Wired Coffee Company  has Writer's Night every Thursday night at 8 p.m and Wired Open Mic every Friday at 8:30 p.m.  On Saturday nights, you can watch movies on Wired Coffee's eight-foot projection screen for free.

Wired Coffee Company is located at 699 West Main Street, Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075. If you are driving towards Rivergate, it is right after Blue Goose Cafe.

I rate this store 5 stars for its menu, friendly service, entertainment, and incredible atmosphere.

My family took advantage of our Groupon and visited Jolly Ollie's Pizza and Pub for the first time on a Saturday night. It is located at 393 East Main Street, Suite 1, Hendersonville, TN 37075.

It is a cozy hole-in-the-wall pizza joint.  We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a veggie pizza.  We all enjoyed our pizzas and we were surprised at the fun and friendly atmosphere. Their grinders have earned glowing praises and I am looking forward to ordering the grinders at my next visit.

Hendersonville's Hidden Sand Beach

Hendersonville has a small sand beach located at Lock 3 Road.  It has picnic sites, a boat launch ramp, and restroom facilities.  When we visited the site, several people were swimming in the designated swimming area.  Note:  There are no lifeguards present.  It had a relaxed atmosphere and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves whether it was laying out on the sand, swimming, or grilling out.

Cafe Rakka Mediterranean Restaurant Review

My taste buds are still belly dancing from my recent visit to Cafe Rakka.  I instantly fell in love with Cafe Rakka as soon as I stepped inside it.  It is cozy, exotic, and alluring.  I felt like I was dining inside of Jeannie's bottle from I Dream of Jeannie.

I tried the grilled and roasted eggplant and cheese sandwich.  It was scrumptious and tantalizing.

Cafe Rakka is a feel good restaurant.  They offer healthy food and fresh food choices, friendly service, and an appealing and warm atmosphere.  You leave Cafe Rakka with the thought that you cannot wait to go back and share this unique experience with a friend.

They have a diverse menu and I have attached a link to their menu.  Please click on http://caferakka.com/menu.aspx to view their mouthwatering selections.

Cafe Rakka's address is 71 New Shackle Island Rd., Hendersonville, TN  37075.  They are open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. - 3  p.m. and 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.  Hours of operation are subject to change.

Johnny Cash and June Cash's Grave Site

Beloved musicians Johnny and June Cash lie side by side in the Hendersonville Memory Garden.  They are surrounded by June's family members and Merle Kilgore who co-wrote Ring of Fire.  If you click on the photos you can see larger views of the photos.

If you park on the right side of the parking lot facing the cemetery you can see a black bench (pictured below), which is located next to Johnny and June's graves.

It is bittersweet to note that Johnny quickly passed away after June. I remember sitting in Church one Sunday morning and  Johnny had asked all the local Churches to pray for June's recovery after her heart valve replacement surgery.  Sadly, she died from surgery complications on May 15th, 2003.

Johnny's last performance was on July 5th, 2003.  He read the following statement about June at the concert, "The spirit of June Carter overshadows me tonight with the love she had for me and the love I have for her. We connect somewhere between here and heaven. She came down for a short visit, I guess, from heaven to visit with me tonight to give me courage and inspiration like she always has."

Johnny passed away on September 12th, 2003 from diabetes complications while hospitalized at Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

Johnny and June's love for one another and God is still evident.  A trip to their grave site is a testament to two talented musicians and gracious souls who simply could not live without each other.

The Hendersonville Memory Gardens is located at  353 East Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075.

Ms. B's Used Books and CDs Review

If you're a frugal book/music/movie lover, then Ms. B's is the place for you.  Everything is super organized and easy to find.  I always find a good deal.  I especially love the selection of children's books and have saved so much money over the years.

Ms. B, the owner, has a hip librarian appeal.  Ms. B's artistic flair adds charm and whimsy to her ultra cool book and music store.  There are comfy chairs scattered throughout the store.  Even though there is a wide selection of books, movies, and CDs, the store feels light and airy and never cluttered.

Ms. B is a very kind person who is willing to help you find what you are looking for and to answer your questions.  She has even called us on occasion when our favorite books have arrived in her store.

Her hours are 10-6 from Monday-Saturday.  Ms. B's is located at 330 West Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075.  You can trade books, CDs, and movies for either cash or store credit.

I rate Ms. B's 5 out of 5 stars for low prices, a diverse selection of merchandise, a clean and organized store, and warm and friendly staff.

Popcorn Delights Store Review

My daughter & I went to Popcorn Delights for the first time tonight.  Several people have raved about the popcorn and say it is addictive.  They have many different flavors and options.  We tried the Cinnamon Toast and really liked it.  We bought a small bag for $4.32.

The lady in front of us in line was a regular and she said the macaroni and cheese and loaded baked potato flavored popcorn tastes like the real thing.  I've heard the spicy buffalo ranch and loaded baked potato are their best sellers.

Next time, I want to try the Elvis popcorn (peanut butter and banana flavor), which is one of their fun flavors.  The other fun flavors are peanut butter and jelly and Granny's apple pie.

The seasoned flavors are extra buttery, cheese, light cheese, spicy and hot cheese, white cheddar, sour cream and chives, salt and vinegar, dill pickle, southwest jalapeno, loaded baked potato, Parmesan and garlic, bacon and cheese, jalapeno ranch, pizza, mac and cheese, spicy buffalo ranch, kettle corn, cinnamon toast, and Tennessee pride (white and orange popcorn).

They also carry caramel, caramel nut, and fudge flavored popcorn.  The candy coated flavors are crazy confetti, cinnamon, vanilla, banana, blue berry, apple, coconut, grape, strawberry, cherry, cotton candy, orange, watermelon, raspberry cheesecake, blackberry, bubble gum, Dr. Pepper, and Coca Cola.

The specialty flavors include white chocolate, Heath toffee almond, creamy peanut butter, peanut butter chocolate, chocolate mint, strawberry cheesecake, M&M, Butterfinger, dark chocolate, smores, key lime pie, white chocolate pretzel, milk chocolate pretzel, puppy chow, Oreos, banana pudding, Snickers, Kit Kat, and Crunch bar.

The store location is 112 Saundersville Rd., Suite B-204, Hendersonville, TN 37075 and they are open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. till 8 p.m.

The staff was friendly and the store has a cute atmosphere.  I would definitely recommend Popcorn Delights.

Hendersonville Theater is a Gem

Have you ever heard the saying that the best things are right under your nose? Hendersonville has an incredible small theater called Steeple Players.  It's right off of  Main Street. Unfortunately, most locals do not know it even exists.

We recently saw The Wizard of Oz and we were amazed at what they accomplished with a limited budget and tiny stage.  Steeple Players utilized every inch of the tiny stage.  They always think outside the box and add surprising and creative touches throughout their plays.

I really enjoy being close to the actors and being drawn into the story.  Afterwards the actors line up for a meet and greet.   It truly is an enjoyable way to spend an evening.  I have seen plays such as Little Women, Steel Magnolias, and Bell Witch.  I have always left each play feeling impressed and entertained.

I have included a link to Steeple Players' website that list upcoming shows, prices, audition information, and FAQs.

Thank you for stopping by Life in Hendersonville Tennessee and I hope you will see Steeple Players' next show, which is Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, September 22nd to October 9th, 2011.
